We need you to call your state representative and state senator to demand a change to Tier 2 pensions! Unions across Illinois are demanding that our elected officials take action to address the inequities of the Tier 2 pensions that threaten the retirement security of our members.

I have pasted a sample script at the end of this message that you can use when calling your elected officials. You can also adapt this as an email message after your call. Additionally, there will be a rally against Tier 2 in Springfield on Wednesday, November 13th. Union members across Illinois will come together to demand change. I hope you will plan to join us in Springfield!

Employees who fall under Tier 2 receive a reduced benefit that is not much better than social security.
Employees who fall under Tier 2 pay the same (8%) amount as Tier 1 employees yet receive significantly less in retirement.
Tier 2 plans require employees to work until 67 years old. That's longer than Tier 1 with a reduced benefit.
It is important that Illinois’, public service retirees are able to have a fair retirement.
