Wednesday, November 15th, is national PSRP Day. President Tony Johnston and Vice President for Classified Staff Rose Marie Sakanis would like to extend their appreciation for all the hard work the Classified and Support Staff do at the various colleges Local 1600 represents.

Below is their message to the Classified and Support Staff of Local 1600:

November 10, 2017

Dear Local 1600 Classified and Support Staff,

The offices, staff, and more than 5,000 members of Cook County College Teachers Union would like to offer you our appreciation and gratitude this Illinois PSRP Day, Wednesday, November 15th. Every year, Education Unions use the third Wednesday in November to recognize the vital contributions our support and classified staff make to schools across the country.

Classified and support staff members of Local 1600 serve varied roles at the 14 community colleges in Cook County. Our members work in security, information technology, libraries, maintenance, tutoring, and dozens of other jobs. Our PSRP members are working 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. They are clearing parking lots, repairing computer networks, drafting communications, registering students, and performing hundreds of other critical functions every day. Our campuses literally cannot operate without you.

Please know that your Union brothers and sisters recognize and value the work you do. Your efforts help make our schools some of the best community colleges in the country.

Thank you and “Happy PSRP Day!”

In appreciation,

Tony Johnston, President                                          Rose Marie Sakanis, Vice President for Classified Staff
