Are you using CUCU?

One important service associated with your membership in Local 1600 is access to the College and University Credit Union (CUCU), established in 1975 to help members address financial problems. CUCU offers savings services through the Shares Savings account program, as well as fast, low-interest personal loans up to $10,000 and automobile loans up to $40,000.

Members have the option to contribute to their Shares Savings accounts either directly or through setting up a payroll deduction of any amount, with dividends credited to your account on a quarterly basis. These funds can be withdrawn at any time, but Local 1600 encourage all members to use their Shared Savings account to maintain a “strike fund”. Such a fund can be used to ensure your financial stability in the event of a strike. Should that prove unnecessary, you can always change it into a “trip to Thailand fund” or a “kitchen remodel fund”.

CUCU has been in operation since 1975 and has helped Local 1600 workers through five past work stoppages.
